Membership

Summary:

The PTA Membership Chair promotes the PTA prior to start of the school year to new families and during the school year through announcements and a contest. The Chair is responsible for collection of all the membership forms and money and maintaining a record of the membership.

Calendar of Responsibilities:

• July
  • The Membership Chair works with the PTA President in late July to include a membership form in a new family welcome packet.
    
• August/September
  • This job is busiest in the first few months of school. An incentive-based contest with a theme is announced and monitored in the Pink Section by the Chair.
    
• Throughout The Year
  • The Chair receives the forms and money at home and in the PTA volunteer office throughout the school year.

Works with:

• The head room parents can be great help for the Chair. They can attach a PTA membership form to an e-mail to their class parents to help promote joining the PTA on a more "local" level during the course of the contest. The contest should be over by November.
  
• The principal also helps promote joining the PTA to the teachers at the beginning of the school year.
  
• The teachers all need to receive a form and note describing the contest so they can help the room parents promote it and help gain momentum in joining the PTA at the beginning of the school year.

Helpful Tools & Tips:

A computer-savvy assistant is needed to help with the data base. The names of families and teachers need to be entered in a database and recorded for reference throughout the school year.
