Summary:

This is a position for 2 or 3 people working as co-chairs.  You basically orchestrate the whole variety show from the beginning to end. The variety show is a talent show where kids get up on stage and showcase their talents for the whole school to see.  It’s all about them and the act they create. It is not scripted in any way.

Responsibilities include:

• Scheduling rehearsal dates through Sara Wolf in the music room
• Advertising for the show to acquire acts and to get an audience
• Procuring and scheduling volunteers for the bake and ticket sales
• Advising and managing the children and their acts during the mandatory rehearsals and the show
• Creating and running a show made up from individual acts
• Designing a program for the evening
• Set up of bake sale
• Set-up of ticket sales

Calendar of responsibilities:

January – early February
The show is scheduled the year prior as well as the mandatory stage dress rehearsal and is usually the first week in February.  You will need to set up 4 mandatory rehearsals before the actual show.  It is best to advertise for the show and let people know of the mandatory rehearsal dates before the winter break so that the kids can think about their acts and be forewarned about the rehearsals.

This job is best suited for a technical person, as you will have to manage all the kids’ music and the microphones.  The other person needs to be patient and creative as they will be the contact person that works with the kids and the parents.
