VP1: Vice President - Campus Improvement & Health and Safety

Summary:

VP1 serves as a member of the PTA Board of Directors and oversees two areas: Campus Improvement and Health & Safety.

CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT:

  • Large projects: This entails working with the administration on any large projects that might require funding from the PTA. Some examples of these projects include new picnic tables, shade structures, play structures, etc. Recent projects include the installation of the Hawk Courtyard and labyrinth, renovation of the K/1 area, and the purchase of additional playground equipment.
  • Gardening: There is also a campus improvement committee that gets together a few times a year to do some weeding, planting, and miscellaneous work on the school grounds. This group also puts together a watering schedule for plants that are not on irrigation during the hot months.
  • End of the year class gifts: In the past, class gifts have been organized by the grade room parents and then approved by the campus improvement committee and the PTA. The funding for these gifts is handled by the grade parents.
